Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Political awareness refers to the understanding and knowledge individuals have about political processes, issues, and candidates. It plays a critical role in shaping electoral participation, as informed voters are more likely to engage in voting and other forms of political involvement. In Kaura Namoda LGA, Zamfara State, political awareness has been shown to influence voter turnout and political engagement. This study aims to explore how political awareness affects electoral participation in Kaura Namoda, with a focus on the role of education, media, and community engagement in increasing political knowledge among voters.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Low levels of political awareness are often associated with low voter turnout and political apathy, particularly in rural areas like Kaura Namoda LGA.
